Thoughts from the office by Ed Ball

Now is a great time for a client application programmer like myself to learn how to write Internet applications. I love the .NET Framework, and I’ve heard great things about ASP.NET, so I really wanted to learn more about it. I didn’t want a summary of how to use Visual Studio to create Web sites, nor did I want reference documentation of all of the available Web controls. I don’t yet have much experience with databases, so I didn’t want to get bogged down with that, either. I just wanted to understand the architecture of ASP.NET, and Fritz Onion’s Essential ASP.NET with Examples in C# fit the bill perfectly.

I now have a decent understanding of how ASP.NET works, why it was written that way, and what the possibilities are, so I’m ready to write my first real Internet application. If you’re an “experienced” programmer who wants an intelligent introduction to ASP.NET, this book is highly recommended.
